Hellooooo. This is not a bother at all because I will jump at any opportunity to talk about comics. And thanks for thinking of me. That’s pretty cool of you.
I’m glad you enjoyed Young Avengers!
So it really depends on what you like but if Young Avengers is all you’ve read that’s kind of limiting to what I can recommend for you without knowing more about what you’d be into reading.
I would definitely say Avengers Academy. I like the characters and the characters I don’t like I enjoy not liking, if that makes sense. Even if you’re not familiar with Henry Pym, Tigra, Quicksilver, Justice and Speedball who are already established characters along with mentioning of others I think the series does a really good job of explaining what you need to know quickly and you can fill in the blanks. It’s the kiddos that are great and fun to root for (or not root for). I think as of Wednesday we’re on part …threeee? of a really big story line that’s going to kick off something real exciting so hurry and catch up! (If you go off anon I’ll help you do that.)
In October there’s going to be some new awesomely awesome Marvel Now! lines coming out. Just to name a few that I’m signed up for (excluding the ones you wouldn’t be interested in or couldn’t jump into blindly) Ultimate Comics: Iron Man and Indestructible Hulk. Totally excited. Also Uncanny Avengers, since you like team stuff, yeah? Scarlett Witch and Wolverine? Eh? Eh? Excited.
Otherwise for other things involving younger characters there’s a new comic coming out in October called Freelancers (Boom comics). The summary sounds awesome: Two woman who grew up in a martial arts orphanage are trying to make it in LA. They have guns on the cover. The writer is from Darkwing Duck. Dude!
If you want to read something that’s already out there that you would have to catch up on some of my favorites right now that you could jump into… Avenging Spider-Man, Daredevil, the new Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, Uncanny X-Force, Blue Beetle. All of those are 30 issues or under right now I think, and they’re all pretty newbie friendly. Uncanny X-Force is an alternative co-existing universe X-Men story relaunch. If you’ve seen the movies and understand how mutants are and get that Prof X is a bad ass and everything you’ll be able to follow along just fine.
If this wasn’t helpful let me know what comic universe movies you like or what other types of genres you enjoy and we can go from there.
EDIT: There’s also a ‘recs’ link on my sidebar if you wanna lookit that.
